Popular comedian Walter Mongare Nyambane  has urged the Gusii community to support the re-election of President Uhuru Kenyatta  and Jubilee elected leaders from the region, saying it is the only way that will bring development to the region.

Nyambane who was chosen to head  President Uhuru’s campaign team from the region was addressing different youth groups in Kisii Town. He said  that the government  has implemented different schemes that give young people a chance to work decently through youth and women enterprise opportunities in the government services.

“The government has reserved 30 per cent of all procurement processes to youth, women and persons with disability. I urge you to register companies and apply for these jobs. We will be ready to train you on this process,”  said Nyambane.
He however discouraged youths who are saying that there are no jobs to get out and form groups that will help them earn through the same.
“There is a great potential in self employment. I urge all of you to develop your talent to an income generating activity. Start something, however small it might be. What you start today may be the next  big multinational company”, he said.

He however challenged Kisii county politicians to show leadership and shun divisive politics by helping youths to form co-operatives and create resource empowerment programs for a better future society.

According to statistics on governments delivery portal, in the last five years Sh42.8 billion was  awarded to youth, women and people with disabilities through the 30 per cent Access to Government Procurement Opportunities (AGPO) benefiting more than 41,000 businesses and 200,000 people in the supply chain.
