NASA leader Raila Odinga and Kitutu Chache South Mp elect Richard Onyonka

Few days to the scheduled bye-election in Kitutu chache south, Nasa leader Raila Odinga has abandoned his long time ally and ODM  man in the constituency  and  has instead opted to rally his troops and supporters to vote for the former area MP, Mr Richard Onyonka.

Mr Odinga declared that he will back Mr Onyonka (Ford Kenya), instead of  ODM’s Samwel Omwando in the by-electionthat is set for Tuesday. As his co-principal Moses Wetangula has been cris-crossing the constituency to rally his support for Onyonka.

Mr Onyonka was initially an ODM candidate before decamping to Ford Kenya for his own reasons.

Other candidates seeking the seat are Mr Justus Mochoge (Amani National Congress), Mr Andrew Maubi (Wiper) and Mr Antony Kibagendi (Jubilee).

It is believed that Mr Odinga dropped support for Omwando after  being prevailed upon by his co-principal Moses Wetangula among other various reasons known to them.

“We came to an agreement that we support one strong candidate and we must also vote as one unit, Nasa, so that we can defeat Jubilee,” Mr Odinga told Nation at Ruga centre.

Mr Wetang’ula has been crisscrossing the constituency, campaigning for Mr Onyonka in the last minute rush to secure his win.
