Leaders and academic stakeholders have been called upon to initiate programmes that will ensure boy child education is improved in balance with the girl child initiatives.
Speaking during a meet youth tour, former political leader Steve Arika said that all youths are entitled to academic access.
“It has been an issue with boy child fraternity for some now it’s like leaders, on governmental organizations have dwelt much on initiatives that seem to improve only the girl child forgetting that even the boy child needs boosting on different areas”, he said adding that proper mechanisms needs to put in place to see this a success.
Arika called upon parents to be holding consultative meetings with boys so that it can be an all round combined efforts to save boy child from extreme avoidance from the society as compared to girls who have received massive support.
“Am not against girls but there should be initiatives to provide good understanding to boys too who are majorly seen operating as bodaboda riders others even doing manual work to support their sisters in progressing academically,” said arika.
He thanked the cabinet secretary for interior security and government co-ordination Dr. Fred Matiang’i for asking the provincial administration officials to arrest any bodaboda operator who has not finished school riding bodabodas .
On education officials he asked them to join with parents and other concerned leaders in curbing down school drop-out cases that have since gone higher majorly due to bodaboda menace adding that there are measures that need to be taken on those who have a problem with class work to be assisted to have some skills that can help them in future.
