Kisii National Polytechnic has held a successful 2nd annual research conference. The conference, opened by the Principal Secretary State Department for Vocational and Technical Training, Dr Kevit Desai brought together researchers and academicians who showcased their manpower and knowledge to the locals.
The theme being “the role of science, technology and innovation in accelerating sustainable development” rhymed well with the school principal, Daniel Nyarik’s message of such conferences’ role in informing people about policies in one hand and spurring innovation on another.
“These conferences will therefore add impetus on this noble role of TVET sector by bringing about research studies that inform on our training as geared towards sustainable development,” he said.
The coordinator of the research conference Mr. Nyakoe Ngoge raised concern over the reading attitude of Kenyans and urged them to learn research methods that will help them manage studies.
Tvet institutions are geared toward developing new skills through training and mounting educational programs to meet the changing green market economy and thus issues of responding to green economy sustainability climate change and mitigation are distinct in different sectors of economy.
