A section of members of parliament from Kisii and Nyamira counties have said that they are not regretting supporting Ruto for top seat in 2022.
The Mps drawn from different parties fro the two counties of Kisii led by North Mugirango MP Joash Nyamoko have pledged to support Dr William Ruto’s bid to presidency come 2022.
Speaking recently within the Mps said that Dr. Ruto has portrayed leadership skills eminent to take over the mantle of their party leader to transform Kenya as a president. Saying as leaders from the community they will rally residents to embrace Ruto’s presidency.
“We are not swayed by anything. We have decided that it is only DP Rutowho is best suited to succeed President Uhuru. And through this Omogusii stands to immensely benefit should they solidly stand behind his quest for the presidency,” Nyamoko told Kisii residents
The shape for Gusii political landscape is slowly changing as more than 10 sitting members of Parliament have agreed to support the Deputy presidents bid to inherit President Uhuru Kenyataa come 2022.
There has been calls fro a section of other leaders asking residents to ignore the section saying that they should rlly behind their own who is Interior Cs Dr. Fred Matiang’i for the top seat.
The MPs who are from different political parties said they had not “come across a strong candidate hence the need for residents to support Ruto and any other candidate is just but a waste of time.”
Recently, South Mugirango member of Parliament caused a stir when he reffered Inteiro Cs Dr. Fred Matiang’i’s move to consolidate the community behind him as a move geared to wasting time. Saying he isn’t fit to even being elected as a cattle dip chairman’s post.
A move that raised storm with several MCAs led by the Majority Whip Mr John Ombati (Bomorenda Ward) who said the Mps remarks lacked substance and respect to elders like Dr Matiang’i.
Other leaders who are supporting Dr Ruto include Shadrack Mose (Kitutu Masaba), Vincent Kemosi,(west Mugirango), Alfer Miruka (Bomachoge Chache), Innocent Obiri (Bobasi) Ezekiel Machogu (Nyaribari Masaba), Oroo Oyioka (Bonchari), Kisii Deputy governor Joash Maangi among others.
But despite having most elected leaders on his side, Senators Sam Ongeri (Kisii) and Okong’o Mogeni (Nyamira) are yet to join his spirited camp. With Ongeri recently slamming Ruto’s chances.
“Lets not politicize corruption and oppose anything that comes our way. If you’re opposing what the president is doing, then we have no business with you,” said Ongeri.
