Senate  Ad  Hoc  Committee  on Tea  to implement policies facing the sector
The Senate Ad Hoc committee on Tea has assured Kisii residents that its going to enact laws to better tea farming facing the sector in Gusii region.
The tea  farmers  have been decrying  over the numerous  taxation, delay in the  collection of the green  leaves,  marketing,  cartels  hawking  tea v  and low payment on the bonuses.
Speaking when they paid a courtesy  call  to the Kisii Governor, the chair  Aaron  Cheruiyot  said their coming is crucial as it grants the Senate an opportunity to get firsthand information and views of farmers and other stakeholders in regard to the very crucial cash crop.
The  chair  said  that  tea  farmers  have been  earning  low  bonus  income due to cartels  who purchase  at throw  price.
" We should  come up  with  the policy  to safeguard our farmers,  it really hurts  us  on what our farmers  are earning, " said Cheruiyot .
Mr Cheruiyot  said that on the issue  of bonuses   said that the policy should  protect  all the farmers  to  earn  bonuses  equally.

Police on the spot over harassment of bodaboda riders.

Bodaboda riders from Keroka town want the Independent Police Oversighting Authority (IPOA) to take up a case where one of them was allegedly brutalized by policemen.
According to the Nyamira County Bodaboda riders association Bernard Orindo and his Masaba Counterpart Dominic Babu, Dancan Ombaye was beaten and grievously harmed by three Administration Policemen who had forced him to carry them from Keroka Town to their work station at Tondori, where Sub county offices are situated.
The rider is said to have lost control of the motorcycle on a steep road and toppled over, making them fall due to their weight.
