Kisii University Vice chancellor Prof. John Akama has called upon the youth to put more effort in their studies so as to become better citizens.

Speaking to journalists Gusii Star, Prof. Akama said that education is a tool that can propel an individual to greater heights and earn respect in the society.

He at the same time urged the youth to refrain from habits that lower their dignity in the society and concentrate on their studies to better their lives in future.

“Many people have prospered through education. Let our youths put more effort in education so that they can help the community in future,” he said.

He further urged the youth to be champions of education and called upon all stakeholders to come together to realize the achievements education brings to the society.

“If all the Key stakeholders come together and support Education related initiatives, then we will end poverty in our societies. Let parents join other stakeholders to make this sector successful,” he added

Prof. Akama also challenged the Kisii community to weigh and examine carefully the leaders to choose in the coming general elections.

“As a community we should carefully examine what kind of leadership we want. Leadership is actions not entertainment so we should keep off from politicians who always use empty rhetoric to woo Kenyans because they have nothing that will benefit Kenyans,” he said.
