What we refer to as “avocado” is the fruit of the avocado tree, also known as Persea Americana as its scientific name.

This fruit is prized for its high nutrient value and is added to all sorts of dishes due to its good flavor and rich texture. It is the main ingredient in guacamole these days, the avocado has become an incredibly popular food among health conscious individuals.

Avocado is widely used and Kenya in general avocado is a main fruiting almost all homes, despite adding flavor to food avocado has many health benefits as outlined to help in skin benefits of this well-known fruit:

 Healthy Fats

Avocados contain poly- and monounsaturated fatty acids, which protect your skin. Monounsaturated fats keep the top layer of your skin moist so it’s soft and healthy looking. People who suffer from skin irritation and dryness regularly should try eating more avocado for skin health and moisturization.Omega-9 fatty acids are one of the building blocks of a healthy complexion and avocados, and even more so the avocado oil is a great source of this skin moisturizing fat.

Antioxidants

When you metabolize food or are exposed to pollutants, your body makes free radicals. Free radicals harm cells, including skin cells. Antioxidants found in avocados, such as carotenoids, vitamin E and vitamin C, help protect against the damage of free radicals. One particular carotenoid, lutein, promotes the water content and elasticity of skin and decreases the destruction of beneficial skin lipids. Vitamin E protects you from ultraviolet light. Your body needs vitamin C to make collagen, which is the main structural component of skin and the source of its elasticity and firmness.

Biotin

Avocados contain between 2 and 6 micrograms of biotin or between 6 and 16 percent of the Dietary Reference Intake. Biotin is part of the B complex vitamins. All the B vitamins are necessary for healthy skin, according to the Linus Pauling Institute. Without enough biotin, you may develop dry skin and a scaly, red rash.

Keep your skin healthy by eating lots of avocados as it is the most natural way of maintaining a healthy skin without worrying about side effects.
