Bobasi member Of Parliament Innocent Obiri has urged all stakeholders to come up together and chart a way forward to avert road carnage through bodaboda riders.
Speaking during the maiden graduation ceremony of over 300 motor cycle riders in his constituency, the legislature said that the training will help curb the ever rising accident incidents in his constituency. Most of which have been lethal and seriously injurious for the riders .
The MP said the accidents can be minimized if informal training of the riders is enhanced by all stakeholders without discrimination. Since they have caused the country serious economic dent, following their deprivation of the country of prime manpower.
“We ask the riders to strictly follow traffic rules and this will help them grow their businesses and reduce road accidents, “said the MP.
In order to empower more, the legislature has proised to empower more riders through sponsored training in his remaining years in office.
“This exercise was fully paid for by the constituency development fund and we are going to train more than1500 riders in the next phase, “said the MP.
He expressed his satisfaction in the transparent and indiscriminate selection process which saw all the wards in his ward represented.
The training involved refresher courses that come in He noted that such refresher courses will be bin handy in taming accidents and organize sensitization and safety awareness for bodaboda operators and other road users.
