Kisii Deputy Governor Joash Maangi on Wednesday Morning recorded a statement at Kisii Central police station over an assault case involving him from last year.

It’s alleged that the deputy governor assaulted his domestic worker recently.

This comes after summons issued by the DCI requiring him to physically avail himself at Kisii central police to record a statement over assault allegations made against him.

“Since am a law abiding citizen, I have come here with my three lawyers to record the statement on what took place on 4th December 2019,” said Maangi.

However, Maangi has said that the incident has nothing to do with the alleged assault but the said worker is said to be used by his political detractors.

He also alleged that the said domestic worker tried to poison him in his own house.

“I know that this thing is absolutely not true but since am a law abiding citizen I have recorded the statement as required,” he said

Maangi said the issue is only being used to slow his reactionally leadership in the fight against graft. Noting that the force behind his woes are only but being used to slow his vigor to fight corruption in Kisii County.

South  Mugirango MP Sylvenus Osoro who accompanied him said that  Maangi  is being  crucified for supporting the deputy President William Ruto.

“We are  in a democratic  country,  everyone  has a right to  support  whoever  he wants, and if it is true we are warning those leaders mitigating this “said  Osoro.

On January, the Deputy Governor’s official car was towed away and his official security withdrawn. An issue which has not been resolved up to now.
