one Killed while on patrol in Kitutu central

A member of a village security committee, has been hacked to death in Kitutu Chache South subcounty- Kisii county while on  patrol to enforce the on-going curfew.

Two other people were nursing serious machete injuries at a public hospital following a confrontation between the village security  maintenance committee members and a group.

Irate Bonyagatanyi residents interviewed said the deceased,Japheth Mayieka,a loader at nearby  Nyakoe market, had accompanied the local administration to enforce the curfew in the area.

A commotion ensued at a local bar when they  tried to disperse  a defiant group of revelers at around 9pm leading to the fatal attack and death of the deceased.

In the melee, two other people who were among the revelers, sustained panga cuts and were rushed to hospital.

The residents  condemned the killing  and  described the deceased as a hard working  person  at the market and in the village security  circles.

They petitioned the local administration to stop involving the community policing members in the  implementation of   the curfew.

Kisii county police commander,Jabel Munene  had instructed security officers doing patrols during the curfew to be in uniform adding that they have launched Investigation to know what transferred.
