Kisii county continues to set measures to curb COVID 19 from entering the county as it sets 11 roadblocks to screen people entering the county
Kisii county Government in conjunction with National Government has officially launched screening points of COVID 19 in all road entry points to Kisii county.
Addressing the press during the launch , Kisii county Governor James Ongwae said that the screening points will ensure that all persons entering to kisii county are screened and those suspected to harbor symptoms of Coronavirus will be sent to established quarantine centers for further monitoring and testing .
” Today we are opening up this exercise , anybody who will be entering Kisii county will be properly checked , since we have the equipment to measure temperature,” said Ongwae
Ongwae noted that the the roadblocks will be manned by the police and Medical personnel armed with Infra-red thermometer guns
The 11 check points will be at Keroka, Miruka, Rioma, Nyangusu , Kiango , Ekona, Zare ,Olemelil and Geteri,
At the same time he said that the county has not received any case of COVID 19 but that one should not be residents in comfort zone.
“ By Now we don’t have any COVID 19 case, but let us not be in a comfort zone, let us strictly follow the guideline given including wearing masks, washing hands, and sanitizing , we ensure we fumigate areas needs to be fumigated as i know my officers are doing that since its continuous process, ensuring that in our hospitals we are in a state of preparedness” said Ongwae
The county Boss added that they are closely working with the national Government in the management of COVID 19 dilemma in the country.
” We are working closely with The national Government in the management of Covid 19, whether we are dealing with markets, Bodaboda,and isolation centers we are working together ” Said Ongwae .
He was accompanied with Kisii county Commissioner Stephen Kihara who challenged residents to be vigilant and follow the guidelines given by the Ministry of Health .
In another hand the county has released Sanitizes to sub county , Prisons, police and other departments within the county after doing repackaging of 3,000 litres of sanitizers donated by Kibos Sugar company .
