As people are struggling to get even some food during COVID 19 pandemic period residents of Bogetenga ward in south Mugirango are suffering more following Impassible road which has affected them economic since they will not access the nearby county were they sell their products.
Residents of Bogetenga ward in South Mugirango constituency Kisii county have protested against an impassible key road connecting the area and other neighboring counties .
Speaking to Gusii star the residents led by Seth Maganya said that they have experienced difficulties to sell valuable to other counties following the impassible road .
According to them the road connects Kisii – Migori hence they can can not sell Sugarcane to Nzoia and Awendo Sugar Factory at the moment because the road is impassible .
Magaya added that most residents in the area depend on selling sugarcane to the factory but now they have no sells during this COVid 19 pandemic which has affected the economy.
“We depend on sugarcane ,since this road is impassible we haven’t made any pfofit from our products , we can not access the factories in our neighbouring county ” Said Magaya
They also claimed that the road had been neglected for a long period yet it was crucial in ferrying sugarcane to the nearby sugar factory in Migori county and it is being used for students from the are who study at Rongo University
In addition they said they due to the state some tenants including university students who operated from rental premises in the area had relocated because of the poor state of the road hence affecting the residents economically.
They accused the area political representatives of disrespecting their own pledges over the rehabilitation of the road.
Speaking to the area MCA, James Ngisa , he dismissed the claims of the residents and termed them as cheap politics by adding that its time to fight COVId 19 not repairing of the roads
