Kisii county women representative has launched a program of helping people with disability and vulnerable people in the society more so during this period of Corona vivus pandeminc.
Addressing the press on Wednesday at her Kisii Office when he delivered foodstuff to them , Mama Janet ong`era said that he has embarked on a program of identifying disabled people in kisii county so that they can benefit from government money which is allocated for them .
According to Ong`era Kisii county has 8,000 people with disability, Most of them have not registered hence not benefiting from the government program.
” My office has launched a program of identifying people with disability, our first phase will identify 1000, second phase 1000 and third phase will have 1500 totaling to 3500″ said county Mp
Through this program we will be able to map which will lead them to the program ” she added.
At the same time she advised them to observe the guidelines given by the ministry of health in the fight against COVID 19.
“Today we are giving out foodstuff to our people more so disabled since we know that they are facing more challenges of get food during this pandemic , but we hope that if we follow the guidelines given by the ministry of health we will curb the pandemic and resume to our. Normal business ” said Mama Janet.
She also called upon the leadership of people with disability to shun from divisive politics and put their differences aside as one way of helping their colleagues in addressing challenge facing them.
. ” I call upon the leadership to avoid disunity and focus in unifying all members for the better ” Mama county said. She also said that her office has reached more than 50,000 bodaboda rides who have been given face masks and sanitizes in both Kisii town and at sub county level.
The county mp also hailed Cabinet secretary for Interior Fred Matiangi for his commitment of helping the Gusii community,
