As the Government sets measures in the fight against Covid 19 pandemic kisii residents have been told to continue observing the guidelines put by the ministry of health as the county confirmed one case at large .
This comes after a 38 year old who hails from Gionseri village in Bobasi constituency has been confirmed positive after travelling from Tanzania through Namanga.
Addressing the press on Wednesday Kisii county Governor James Ongwae noted that the person had early travelled from Tanzania through Namanga on the 14th of this month and was picked by county Covid surveillance response team on 15th.
“ As you are aware we as the county has been set measures on ensuring that our response team works closely with administration even in the village level , upon receiving the information about the said person we were able to get him” He said
Since then he has been in quarantine for five days till today morning when his results came out positive from Kisumu and he was moved to isolation room”he added
According to the information the said person was working in a hotel in Murogoro Tanzania before he travelled one week ago to kisii county .
Since the pronouncement of this case, 14 people have been quarantined awaiting for the confirmation after the county response team moved to Bobasi and identified those people he had early interacted waiting for tests .
The county boss has appealed to the public to report such cases to the authority concerned .
He added that following that the county will start fumigation exercise in his homestead and Nyamache market starting Thursday Morning as mapping of the area has been done.
At the same time he said that markets remain closed and are not operational.
The county Boss also noted that Safaricom has donated zanitizing booths which will be placed at entry points at Kisii Nyamira,Kisii Migori and Kisii Bomet borders .
The automated booths are abig boost to the county as efforts of curbing the spread of covid 9 especially from the border entry points.
He appealed to the people to observe measures outlined by the ministry of health as one way of cubbing the disease.
The governor asked the public to wear masks, observe hygiene and keep social distancing.
