When it was announced Kisii County was to host 57th Madaraka day celebrations before Covid 19 stuck the country, residents were happy to host such big function at their door step.
Unfortunately the county is not going to host it following the pandemic which has affected the county, only they will follow the proceedings of the celebrations through media platforms from statehouse Nairobi.
Following the announcement Kisii County governor James Ongwae has hailed the National Government for the projects they have done in the region which will make the county to host another National function in future.
Addressing the press on Wednesday Governor noted that there is much development which has been done across the county more so in Kisii town, including the renovation of Gusii stadium with Presidential pavilion and other pavilions making it the second best stadium in Kenya.
Governor also noted that Kisii now has what deserves to host any national function in future after gating the new facelift of major roads being done including Nyamataro –Daramoja road , recarpet of other roads and streetl improved without forgetting the construction of State lounge which can host President any time without necessary a major function.
“Upon receiving information that following Covid 19 pandemic which has affected the country and which cannot allow us to have mass gathering has forced the ministry to put Mechanisms to have a virtual celebration, I would like to thank the National Governments for the developments it has done in our county”
“We know that once we are out of this pandemic will be able to host another big function since now we have the facilities in place,” Said Governor Ongwae
Early in the day Kisi county Commissioner Stephen Kihara had noted that the projects are almost 99% and all work will be completed as early planned.
“Contractors are on with the work and it will be completed as it was planned “said CC Kihara
Prepared on the fight against Covid
Governor Noted that the county is well prepared in the fight against covid 19 as the county has only one case
He added that those People who got contacting with candidate have been tested and all have turned negative waiting for the second testing.
“My administration is working closely with the national Government and I want to assure residents that we have set measures in the fight against Covid 19, my appeal to residents is that let us follow the guidelines s given by the ministry properly” said Ongwae.
