Residents set to benefit from Kegati water Project, receive water tanks .

  Kisii 4th August 2020…….Kisii county residents are set to benefit  from Kegati water project that has a capacity to supply 27 million liters of water per day, after Lake Victoria South Water water  Development Agency  with the county Government  plans to launch the project.


Addressing the press on Tuesday  after  held a consultative meeting with the Management of Lake Victoria South Water Works Development Agency, said that once  the  commissioned , the supply of water in Kisii and its environs will be full addressed.
The  Lake Victoria South Water Works  chairman Dan Omino said that they are focused to enhanced increased access to clean water and improved sanitation in Kisii county. 

Mr. omino noted that they have done many projects including Kegati which is at 96% of its completion.


The agency reaffirmed its commitment to improve water services in the county more so Kisii Municipality.

They Agency will also partner with the County in establishing Mokubo and Kiareni water projects in Bomachoge Borabu and Kitutu Chache North constituencies


At the same  time  (LVSWWDA) donated 10 water tanks and other washing items which will help in promoting hygiene through hand washing points with an aim to curb the spread of Covid-19.

The county has so far recorded 34 Covid-19 positive cases amongst which two have succumbed to the virus.

“Water is a key requirement in the prevention of Covid-19. We have donated these tanks to enable residents to fight the disease more effectively since the tanks are big enough to carry more water,” Omino said being ccomapained by then group’s Chief Executive Officer CEO Georgte Odeded

He reiterated that the agency will donate more tanks in a move to minimize the spread of the virus.

The agency is targeting to donate water tanks to all four counties in the South Nyanza region having so far donated to Homa Bay and Kisii. They will later tour Migori and Nyamira.

The county government of Kisii has received a major boost in the fight against Covid-19 after Lake Victoria South Water Works Development Agency (LVSWWDA) issued them with water tanks.

The county has so far recorded 34 Covid-19 positive cases amongst which two have succumbed to the virus.

The agency donated ten 10,000 litres water tanks and other hand washing items.

The consignment was delivered by the Board chairman Mr Dan Omino who was accompanied by the group’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) George Odede.

He reiterated that the agency will donate more tanks in a move to minimize the spread of the virus.

While receiving the items, Kisii County Governor James Ongwae said the tanks will be distrusted in all the nine sub-counties in the region.

“There are nine sub counties in Kisii and each will get one. The remaining one will be situated in Kisii town Central Business District (CBD)” said the county boss.
