Be careful resident advised as 26 remanded prisoners test Covid 19 positive .

Kisii27/08/202…………..Kisii county director of public health Dr. Richard Onkware has confirmed that 26 remanded prisoners have tested positive for Covid 19.

Speaking to Gusii star on Thursday at teaching and referral hospital Dr onkware said the prisoners tested covid positive when they were being screened before joining other prisoners, the testing which was done according to health guidelines to COVID 19.

He added that the 26 are isolated at Kisii teaching and referral hospital where they are receiving treatment.
At the same time he noted that so far Kisii county has confirmed 158 covid19 positive cases , nine of them being children who were asymptomatic and Stable out of 3,200 tests done .

Out of this,70 have tested negative  and discharged from various isolation units while eight have succumbed to the virus who were elderly people .

About critical cases at the moment Dr Okware noted , they facility have one critical case, which was referred from Christamarian mission hospital, the patient is under oxygen but stable.

He has called upon residents to continue observing guideline set by the ministry of health adding that mass screening is still ongoing at the  11entry points.

“let us be careful when elderly because most of those who died contracted the disease from young people who have strong immune system unlike the elderly,” advised Dr Onkware
