Kisii county assembly has agreed to address grievances which was raised by Nominated members through the supplementary budget .
If this will be achieved the Kisii nominated Members of county assembly will to enjoy privileges like their elected colleagues.
This comes after three Commissions and County Assembly’s Forum intervened following complaints by the Members of the Assembly which has been troubling them for quite sometime.
Addressing the press on Friday Chairperson, Commission on Administrative Justice, Florence Kajuju said they had agreed with the Assembly’s Speaker, David Kombo to address the grievances of the Members of the Assembly through a supplementary budget.
“ Following the complaints we have been receiving has made us to engage the Assembly’s leadership to settle the matter which will see the nominated members’ grievances are heard”Said Chairperson Kajuju
” Which include Providing offices for the nominated Members of the County Assembly to do their work” She added .
Kishanto Ole Suuji, Chairperson Commission on Revenue allocation ( CRA) said the Commission on Revenue Allocation had given circulars to the Assembly in June 2018 on the entitlements of the leaders, adding the Assembly had accepted the position.
Gender Equality Commission chairperson, Dr Joyce Mwikali noted the nominated MCA represents special interest groups- People Living with Disabilities, youths and women hence they deserve to paid their dues.
She added that the MCAs have a bigger constituency than their elected colleagues, stressing they needed support to do their work.
County Assembly’s Forum Ndegwa Wahome said they had come to the County to orient themselves with challenges facing the county and lauded the Commissions for addressing the problems raised by the nominated members of the Assembly.
The Ombudsman, Commission on Revenue allocation ( CRA),Gender and Equality Commission County Assembly’s Forum lauded the two counties led by Speakers of the Assemblies, David Kombo, Kisii, Moffat Teya, Nyamira, Clerks, Duke Onyari, Acting, Nyamira, James Nyaoga, Kisii, finance chairmen and members of the Assemblies Service Boards.
