Mixed reaction over commencement Of sugar factory as Governor says its at final stages.

Kisii 6th September 2020…………..Mixed reactions has emerged over the commencement of long a waited Nyagweta sugar factory after Governor James Ongwae told residents during the opening of new parish at Nyamarambe on Saturday that the county is ready for its establishment.

Governor Ongwae told residents of South Mugirango and Kisii county at large that the county is now in final stages to set up a multi-billion Sugar factory.

According to him, they have acquired more than 100 hectares and have identified an investor who is likely to be in the country by December .

Ongwae toted that they have identified an investor to build a Sh 5 to 7 billion sugar factory , calling residents to shun from listening to propaganda about development projects in the area.

This comes after leaders and residents from the area have been calling the County Government to expedite its establishment since it has taken time to commence.

“All measures are in place for the construction and the factory will and it will create more job opportunities,” he added.

Now its to the residents to wait if the project will commence or its public relations, as those who spoke to Gusii star noted that they have no confidence if it will start in December as Ongwae stated .

Speaking to one of the resident Nyamanya Ochweya [Not real name ) said that they have waited the commencement of the project only getting new fashions from the county Government.

” Today we have heard another fashion that the county has acquired land and the investor is coming in December, us is to wait and see , we have been hearing for many years that its in final stages , which are those stages” He questioned

Nyagwara Mosoti also a resident said that December is not far and they are waiting to see if it was PR or the county was Serious.

” We have been hearing the Governor saying that two to three months, we are at final stages , but nothing has been done so far , we are only waiting since December is just in the corner,”Said Nyagwara
