Nyamira 9th September 2020.……… Football Kenya Federation [FKF] Nyamira branch chairman aspirant Mr.Luthers Mokua has assured that Nyamira county will be represented at the Kenya Premier League [KPL] within five years as the Chairman.
Mokua, a professional banker and a sports enthusiast, during an interview with this writer said that Nyamira has lagged behind in sports and talent nurturing which has seen many upcoming sports persons lose hope.
He promised through his leadership to make a sports economy in the County and urged other leaders to embrace the sporting sector and build pitches.
“Despite the potential, Nyamira county has not been featuring in national sporting activities due to lack of good leadership in the sector.
In my leadership, I want to make a sports economy and integrate all readers and make sports marketable in our County and region at large.
We are changing the story “, said Mokua.
Nyamira County’s Starlets is the only female soccer team playing at division one.
Mokua noted that lack of infrastructure was demoralizing upcoming sports persons and promised to offer an enabling environment to tap and nurture talents across the County.
“Its high time we appreciate that talents and sports is earning more than any other profession therefore need to utilize the sector to improve the livelihoods of individuals and build up our economy,” he added.
The FKF elections were first held on October 2019 later to be nullified after a section of participants went to court claiming that there was no public participation prior to elections as required by the law.
In the October election, Luthers had won the Chairman seat by a clear margin the election which was nullified.
The election will take place on 18th September this year.20 legible clubs in Nyamira County will take part in the next week elections.This translates to a sum of 20 votes.
The National Chairman competition has attracted five contestants from the 2 who had shown interest in the nullified October 2019 elections.
Mr. Luthers Mokua was the pioneer and founder of the KPL team Wazito FC before he sold it off.
