Kisii 3 october 2020 …………National Super League (NSL) side Shabana FC has launched a nationwide fans registration to boost its operations of the club ahead of next season.

According to the club’s chairman Jared Nivaton, the club targets to register more than 10,000 members with standard fee of 1,000 per member adding that after registration and depending on its success, they will convene a meeting with all members at Gusii stadium on a consultative agenda to forge the way forward on the management of the club.

At the same time he said that they will later adopt membership categories with annual or monthly subscriptions which will be classified with different rights and privileges.

The club has been struggling to honour matches due to financial constraints since their deal with online betting firm Dafabet lapsed two years ago. They depend on contributions from fans to honour matches..

Gusii star has established that Shabana enjoys a big following in the country after Kenya Premier League (KPL) champions Gor Mahia and their rivals AFC Leopards and during the matches at Gusii staduim is fully only having financial constrains which needs to be addressed.

The former KPL giants finished 10th on the second tier table standings in the last campaign hence missed the opportunity to qualify to the top flight league.

On his side, the county’s FKF chairman Jezreel Mbegera called on the devolved unit, members of parliament from the region and the business community to offer financial support to the club.

According to the club’s head coach Vincent Nyaberi, among the twelve players 10 are locals from the region while two are from outside.

“Among the newly recruited players, two are strikers, four defenders and six midfielders. We are planning to assemble the team for preseason training starting next week” noted Nyaberi, a former player and team manager at Thika United.

This is the second time the club is registering its fans having done it in 1990’s under the guidance of former chairman Joseph Matundura but members later ceased from renewing their subscriptions in unclear circumstances.

Fans are requested to register through Mpesa Pay Bill Number 981730 and account number 01134129852400 with the account name shabana club.
