Kisii 13 October 2020……… County Government and National Government Authorities are finalizing plans to host the 11th Mashujaa day celebrations in Gusii Stadium on October 20.
Addressing the media on Tuesday during Media breakfast While , Kisii County Commissioner Abdirasack Jaldesa and Ksii county Governbor James Ongwae said that they are ready to host the visitors.
CC Jaldesa noted that he has ensured total and Maximum security for the people who will be attending the occasion.
“I want to confirm that there will be sufficient security officers, I will also ensure that there is total and maximum security for our guests,”he said.
Jaldesa said they will host about 3500 people who will sit in the stadium and over 8500 people will be watching the event from the big screens that will be placed all over the town
At the same time he called upon members of the public to fully comply with the Covid-19 directives.
“All of us do not need to go to the stadium we have a number of people selected from different sub-counties who will be allowed in and the rest will be watching from strategic points where big screens are going to be placed,” he noted adding that traffic officers have prepared a traffic order which will see all vehicles using Kisii-Keroka and Kisii-Kisumu roads are diverted to avoid congesting the town.
About space challenge he said that they are working hand in hand with the traffic police to create space within town which will see the exercise goes well as planned.
Jaldesa said the State Lodge which will host the President and other dignitaries is in its final preparations, adding by-passes have been constructed to de congest the town during the Event.
In his part Governor Ongwae said that 4, 500 hotel rooms have since been identified and have been placed on the county website to enable guests to locate them with a lot of ease.
He also appealed to Kisii residents to paint their houses to make the town look more beautiful.
He said close to 1000 military personnel have already been brought and are doing their practices at Kisii Boys national school.
