Kisii 16th October 2020……….. Gusii council of elders general secretary Samuel Bosire Angwenyi has hailed President Kenyatta for hosting Gusii leaders on Thursday last week where they discussed development in the region ahead of this year’s Mashujaa Day celebrations.

Speaking to Gusii star Bosire noted that the meeting gave the Head of State an opportunity to, jointly with the region’s leadership evaluate the progress of national government development initiatives and other projects which needs to be considered in the region.

According to Bosire the request of the leaders to have the Kisii to Sotik road rehabilitated and the completion of and Suneka airstrip, waiving of coffee factory debts amounting and establishing a soapstone value addition facility in the area among the projects will boost the county.

” We are happy that our leaders requested for the completion of the project . I want to thank Governor James Ongwae and the leaders for presenting the projects which need to be completed ” He said

During the visit the leaders listed several key roads, water works including the upgrading of Kisii water supply system, hospitals and fresh produce markets at Daraja Mbili and Nyakoe as some of the Government’s projects that are helping uplift the economic well being of the greater Kisii.

At the same time Bosire has called upon residents to observing protocol set by the ministry of health in the fight against Covid 19.

Mr Bosire worried that residents have just assumed to observe the protocols more so when the county is planning to host Mashujaa day.

” Its worrying that our People are not wearing masks , they have just assumed that all is well, I want to urge them to take cautions since the number of positive cases is in the rise more so in our county”advised Bosire
