Kisii October 18, 2020……………. Kisii University students have welcomed President Uhuru Kenyatta to their institution when he presides over this year’s ‘Mashujaa’ Day celebrations in the county.
Through their umbrella body,Kisii University Students Union(KUSU) the students reminded the President of pledges he made when he was last at the institution of higher learning in 2017.
Among the promises, they claimed, were inauguration of the multi-million shilling science complex and provision of some learning infrastructure.
KUSU leader,Kennedy Chemase said the 30,000 students fraternity were excited to receive Uhuru at the University for the official launch of the ultra-modern building funded by the national government.
Secretary General, Charles Okoth, remarked like other institutions, the university was experiencing funding challenges from the government which had since led to redundancies.
Secretary General, Charles Okoth,
He petitioned the president to address the financial constraints should he spare time out of his busy itinerary to visit the university.
Faith Chepkosgei,a union member, petitioned Uhuru to consider providing some physical facilities geared towards transforming the institution to compete with others globally.
His visit to the county, she observed, evoked sentiments of nostalgia that should persuade him to visit and interact with the student community once again.
