Kisii 22october 2020 ………..A section of Gusii youths have said that they are in support of the Building Bridges initiative (BBI ) that was received by the Head of state Uhuru Kenyatta on Wednesday at Kisii county.
Led by Douglas Ogari a youth leader , he said that BBI is a fair report that will bequeath a better society to the future generations.
” As youths from Gusii I want to confirm that we support the report because there’s more to gain in peace, national cohesion and diversity than from unbridled myopic ethnic parochialism and brazen competition for raw power,” said Ogari adding that the report has improved governance and sustainable political stability.
They added that the process of uniting the country through BBI started in kisii and its glad that the report was launched in Kisii by Head of state Uluru Kenyatta and former Prime minister Raila odinga.
The youths noted that there is much goodies in the BBI report for instance proposed seven year tax holiday for youths, Proposed four year higher education loans board waiver for students’ repayment of loans,Proposed establishment of the youth commission for government to address the plight and objectives of the young people and Proposed open government incubation centres to enrich the young people about capital, counsellingand contracts only mentioning a few.
They called youths and all Kenyan at large to take time and read the report before rejecting or accepting it.
They also hailed president Kenyatta for giving Kisii county any opportunity to host this years Mashujaa day which to them benefited Omogusii in large after the president opened many projects in the region.
“We are happy that we we were able to host this year’s Mashujaa day ,where our county becomes the first one in western region to host the event”said ogari
According to them during the celebrations and after its when the President opened up central Bank of Kenya Kisii branch after the county is said to be contributing 60% of Nyanza GDP.
They also said that establishment of the immigration office in Kisii has helped residents who used to travel to Kisumu, without forgetting infrastructural developments especial the most recent Kisii state lodge and Chepilat -Ikonge -chabera road
Steve Junior also a youth leader said its good gesture from the President for remembering another empowering the youths more so bodaboda sector , upgrading Gusii stadium to international stands and donating a Bus and 5 million Shillings to Shaban Fc.
“As youths we thank the president for his good gesture,empowering youths is a sign of long investment and good agenda to the young people, we totally refuse to be used in cheap wheelbarrow and handouts tactics”noted steve Asuma
Also thanked the cabinet secretary for interior security and chairman National Government Development Fred Matiangi for his immeasurable input to not only to Omogusii but also Kenyans.
“We pledge our support to the Cs , his reform agenda in various ministries he has held since 2013 has been superb” said Ogari
To the county Government they hailed the county Government of Kisii under the stewardship of Governor James ongwae .”We would like to thank his excellency Governor James Ongwae for his leadership between the county and National Government which has brought developments in the region ,”said Dennis Mosoti..
