Gusii elders vow to support BBI as they appreciate the President to have presided over Mashujaa in Kisii

Kisii 09 November 2020…………..Abagusii cultural and Development Council have vowed strongly support Building Bridges Initiative in full scale .

Led By Chairperson James Matundura Araka they noted they will extend their support by joining counterparts Migori, Homabay and Kuria people to vote as a block during a referendum process.

Addressing the press on Monday at Kisii sports club while appreciating the President to have presided over Mashujaa day celebrations in Kisii stadium last Month ,the elders added that it was great honor to Abagusii to host the big event which was well conducted by the two Governors James Ongwae and Hon John Nyagarama .

” The Abagusii Council of elders from all levels of our structures , including our two able patrons Hon Kangwana and hon Dr. Steve Omenge , have pleasure to appreciate and thank H.E the President Uhuru Kenyataa , to have presided over Mashujaa day celebrations in Kisii stadium,” stated Matundura

They thanked God for the success and appreciate the entire National governments teams who worked tirelessly , headed by Interior Ministry and Helped by two county Commissioner Kisii and Nyamira respectively adding that Cs Matiangi Commands the total respect of Abagusii.

Now as the Community we are extremely happy and want to assure the president and Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga that we shall strongly Support BBI in full scale,” they added

Kisii county Commissioner Abdirisack Jaldesa who was in attendance said that the Government his committed to help the Elders has it has identified the good work they have been doing for the country.

According to the Commissioner its not easier to find appreciative people as it has been done by Gusii Council of elders.

“The Government is committed of identifying you for the Good work you have been doing for this Country, most of you being retired government officers you helped the Government to achieve may goals when you were in the service” he said

On behalf of the President the commissioner also presided over awards to three Elders one with Head of State Commendation to General secretary Samuel Bosire Angwenyi, Mashujaa award to Florence Manduku and Elder of the Burning spear to Araka Matundura.

About BBI Mr Jaldesa noted that the Government is working hard of ensuring that all residents get copies so that they can read by themselves and get to understand the report.

” As the Government we are working tirelessly to ensure all Mama Mboga, Bobaboda sector, all residents in general will get copies” He said

He added that BBI Is there to end all emerging issues from the 2010 new constitution.

About Covid 19 , the commissioner reminder Kisii county residents to keenly continue observing health protocols since the second wave of the disease is in the rise.

” I call upon residents to follow health Protocols set by the Ministry of health , it is personal responsibility but as the Government we will make sure that enforce as it was directed by the President since we are losing a lot of People because of the disease ,” noted CC
