Its not too late to have our Constituency halved so that we can benefit government services which will be close to People as other regions.

Speaking to journalists in Kisii Tuesday morning, the elders from bobasi the large Bobasi accused the  political class from the region of failing to push the agenda to be included in the Building Bridges Initiative draft which is undergoing signature collection.

Led by Nyanusi Moenga said their view on subdividing the constituency was overlooked  by the BBI committee of experts during the views gathering exercise in Kisii as they feel shortchanged .

According to Moenga they were able to give out their views to the committee of experts when they visited Kisii for view collection hoping to be factored only learning that from Gusii region its only Kitutu Msaba which is even small than Bobasi has been allowed to be divided.

” We gave out our views to to the committee and waited that our leaders from the region were to push but nothing was done” said Moenga

The demand by the Bobasi elders comes three days after Kitutu Chache South MP Richard Onyonka said Kisii still needs two more  constituencies by halving Bobasi and South Mugirango.

Bobasi alone as a constituency has 8 Wards which constitute a voting block of more than 100,000 votes.
South Mugirango has more than 70,000 voters and prides 6 wards.

“It is amazing how even our MP Innocent Obiri can be silent in the face of this. When shall we see him stand for us as the electorate and fight for issues that are dear to us?,” the elders posed.

Obiri however in a quick rejoinder said he too stood for the subdivision of the constuency.

He said as it is currently, it is not easy to satiate the demands of each part of the constituency with the paltry allocations from the Constituency Development Fund.
