Former West Mugirango MP James Gesami Nominated As Nyamira Deputy Governor.

Nyamira 06 January 2021……………………NYAMIRA GOVERNOR Amos Nyaribo has nominated former West Mugirango Member of Parliament James Odicho Gesami as his deputy barely a week after taking an oath of office.

Addressing the press on Wednesday at County headquarters Governor Nyaribo that he has nominated Gesami due to his high experience in leadership and his good track record while serving as M.P for West Mugirango Constituency. 

” Pursuant to article 182 of the 2010 constitution of Kenya, section 12, 32 (c) and (d) and the County government amendment act, I hereby nominate Dr. James Ondicho Gesami for vetting and approval by County Assembly for the appointment as the deputy governor of Nyamira County”, said Nyaribo. 

James Gesami was elected as a parliamentarian for West Mugirango from 2007 to 2017 when he sought unsuccessfully for the Nyamira Gubernatorial seat on an independent candidature after losing Orange Democratic Movement’s nominations to the late John Nyagarama.

At the same time he named his new cabinet who are the Executive Committee Members (CECs) whose names have been forwarded to County assembly for vetting.

Only three CECMs out of 10 made it back to Governor Nyaribo’s cabinet. 
They are Health Services CECM  Ms. Gladys Momanyi.She served in the Nyagarama government as Education CECM.Peris Mong’are for Agriculture, Livestock  and Fisheries who retains in the same capacity and Samwel Maiko who will head the Lands,Housing and and Urban Development.He headed the Water,Environment, mining and Natural Resources in the Nyagarama regime. 
Those who failed to make back are Mr. Douglas Bosire who was heading the Health services docket and who was perceived as Nyagarama’s daring. 
John Omanwa, headed the Finance and Economic planning, Johnston Ndege for Trade,Industry,Tourism and cooperative development and Public Service Management department’s Benard Osumo among others.
In his nomination list, no youth was listed to take the CEC role.
“We shall consider the youths into the cabinet if I will be elected as Governor from 2022”, he said.

Now after nominating the Dg and The CEC waiting for county assembly approval . All eyes are now on Nyariro, who differed with the late Nyagarama on many issues ranging from corruption to appointment of county officials, with residents expecting him to clean up his former boss’ misdoings.

separately speaking through phone newly nominated Deputy Governor James Gesami thanked the Governor for nominating him.

He has promised to work closely with tho governor once his name has been approved by the county assembly.
