Kisii county 21 January 2021 ……….Electoral agency, IEBC, had by  Tuesday cleared 11 candidates from various parties to face off in Kisii’s Kiamokama Ward’s by election which will take place on March 4th 2021 after the seat was left vacant by the death of Peter Mainya of ODM to Covid-19 in November 2020

The by election battle is expected among front runners- former District Commissioner Daniel Ondabu (Party of Economic Development), Stephen Nyakeriga (New Democrats Party) and Malack Matara (ODM). 


Domic Ateng’a (Kenya National Congress) who was cleared along side Matara on Tuesday is also said to be revving up to win the seat.

Speaking to Gusii star leaders and various party bosses have called for peace to prevail as campaigns begin in earnest. 
The election appeared to have high stakes especially among candidates planning to vie for Kisii Governorship in 2022.


Among Governorship candidates that have shown interest to test the depth of the  waters are PED party boss Daniel Manduku who is planning to vie for Kisii gubernatorial seat is supporting Ondabu’s candidature in the race. 


Manduku is the immediate former Kenya Ports Authority Managing Director. 
He has since moved to politics with his new found party be allied to Tangatanga. 

He teamed up Tuesday with KNC party officials  in Kisii to  praise the orderliness showed by IEBC  during the clearance of political candidates. 


He however expressed lack of social of distancing by the jubilant electorate as candidates filed papers at Masimba Social Hall saying it may spark more infections. 

Mr Manduku he has also urged the youth who especially consists of the campaign teams to ensure sobriety throughout as the campaigns hot up towards the climax on March 4th


PED’s Daniel Ondabu was the first to be cleared on Monday to a few initial glitches by Iebc gadgets. 

Ondabu is among top said to be putting up a spirited campaign to wrestle victory from the whooping 14 candidates in the race. 


The seat was left vacant by the death to Covid-19 of Peter Mainya of ODM. 
 
Former Constitutional Implementation Commission chair Charles Nyachae has also thrown his weight on Ondabu.


Nyachae is the latest of the Kisii politicians to join Tangatanga. 
United Development Party affiliated to DP William Ruto is fielding a former tea director.
