Nyamira 28 January 2021…………….…Police in Nyamira are investigating an incident where fire razed down a dormitory and property of unknown value lost in Tonga Omonuri Primary Boarding, Nyamira County.
Over 150 pupils were forced to spend the night in the cold after their belonging were destroyed by the Wednesday evening inferno.
According to the school’s head teacher Mr. Charles Ombui the fire, whose cause is yet to be established, started at around 7.30pm as the pupils attended the evening studies.
Ombui said that two pupils who might have gone to answer to a call of nature raised alarm after spotting their dormitory on fire.
Nobody was injured during the incident.
Nothing was salvaged from the dormitory whose loss was valued at Kshs. 1 million.
This is the first incident in Gusii region in wave of school fires that has hit learning institutions across the country since the reopening .
