There is calm in the region, the Gusii hills are not in their usual form. The usual birds can’t be heard singing their songs neither could the drums of the traditional dancers be heard any more. The warriors have lost their real energy and the young people are in tears.
Today, the young people from Gusii displayed their tears to mourn former powerful Minister Simeon Nyachae who died after a long illness. Nyachae was a powerful minister who brought the community together since his entry into politics after resignation from cabinet the year 1999.
Led by Gusii youth leader Douglas Ogari, the youths said that Nyachae brought honor in the community when he vied for President in the year 2002, all Kisiis from home and diaspora united to vote for their own candidate and we were dignified.
The youths equated Simeon Nyachae with Fred Matiang’i, the Interior Security Cabinet Secretary and the Chairman of National Government Development and Communication Committee.
The youths hailed the elders and local leaders for the coronation process led by Mzee James Matundura and county leaders led by James Ongwae, Kisii Governor.
The youths said in the spirit of Nyachae’s bravery, they will unite to come together and instal Dr. Fred Matiang’i as the Gusii spokesman so as to bargain for the community as a whole.
Rest in Peace Mzee Simeon Nyachae
