South Mugirango MP Sylvanus Osoro and Dagoretti North MP Simba Arati on Friday reconciled during the Burial of Bonchari MP weeks after the two legislators were involved in a fistfight in Kisii at Bomachoge Borabu during the burial ceremony of the late Abel Gongera father to Deputy Governor Joash Maangi.

simba admitted that it was wrong for both him and his counterpart to exchange blows at the funeral service of Kisii Deputy Governor Joash Maangi’s father, Abel Gongera.

“As a leader, it was important for me to make peace. I know we made a mistake and we have reconciled , We are friends, we work together in the Parliament, we are no longer enemies,” said Arati.

“Apart from the small disagreements witnessed during the last burial, you have seen today that Osoro is my younger brother in terms of age as well as in the National Assembly,” Arati said.

This made the priest who conducted the service congratulated the two for making peace and warned leaders against propagating violence, especially in church.

“As a church, we prayed that the two leaders would reconcile and make peace. I am sincerely grateful and ask the both of you to continue working together,” the priest said.“

The duos asked other MPs to show leadership. Previously, Abagusii Cultural and Development Council strongly condemned the politicization of funerals and demanded respect for the dead.

They petitioned politicians to cease political campaigns in funerals.
