Nyamira Kenya 03 March 2021…………..The Kenya Medical Supplies Authority (KEMSA) yesterday delivered a consignment of assorted medicines to Nyamira County worth Kshs. 41 million.
This will see over 115 medical facilities in the county stocked with the essential medical commodities to serve over 700,000 residents.
In a statement from the authority’s CEO Edward Njoroge, he affirmed that the authority was determined to ensure the availability of adequate stock to serve Counties efficiently and effectively.
“Nyamira County has today demonstrated that it puts the health of its residents first by making sure that the public health facilities within its borders are fully stocked”, said Njoroge.
Governor Amos Nyaribo urged the health officials to utilize the commodities in the rightly. He also warned of dire consequences those who will be found stealing or selling the free commodities in private shops and hospitals.
“I want to urge our workers in the health facilities to make proper use of the drugs. I also warn those who will be found stealing and selling the medicines in their private chemists that the law won’t be lenient on them, we shall close down the shop, sack you and be charged”, said Nyaribo.
Nyaribo said that yesterday’s consignment was worth of Kshs. 32 million and will be supplied to the local health centers at the grass roots across the county.
He added that the County received another cargo of Kshs. 9 million last month, which was supplied to the Nyamira referral hospital and the sub county hospitals.
Nyaribo added that his administration was looking into the distribution of health care providers across the county to ensure that every corner of the county is reached.
“We will look into the distribution of the health workers to ensure that no part of Nyamira is undeserved”, concluded Nyaribo.
The governor who took over from late John Nyagarama in December 2020
promised to prioritize on health, transport and agriculture in the remaining 18 months.
