Kisii Kenya 16 April 2021……………A 25-year-old man in Kisii County, whose wife gave birth to quintuplets at Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital (KTRH) on Thursday night, has appealed to well wishers support him in raising the children.
Douglas Kerundu Nyaoko, who hails from Bobaracho area in the outskirts of Kisii town said he and wife, Sarah Nyanchera, 23, are jobless and he relies on menial jobs at construction sites to put food on the table.
He lauded the medics for aiding the wife to deliver the children through Caesarean safely, stressing he is happy for the bundle of joy but he never expected it.
He noted that the children- a boy and four girls weigh between 1.1 kilograms and 1.5 kilograms will stay at the Facility’s incubator (nursery) until they attain two kilograms before they are discharged, adding he needs money to buy them milk to supplement the mother’s breast milk.
Kerundu, a plumper, who is the last born in a family of seven- four sons and three daughters stays at his brother, Richard Nyaoko’s house and his mother, Consolata Nyaboke, a widow, vends vegetables and supports them.
He has named the little angels Benedict Kerundu, Rita, Gladys, Monica and Elizabeth as he waits for them to grow and be discharged from the Hospital, adding the children needs sheets, clothing and milk before they are weaned.
