Kisii Kenya 27 April 2021…………..Before the dust settles since the Management of Gusii water and Sanitation Company managing director Osborn Nanga dismissal, the same axe has fallen on the board members.
Speaking to Gusii star the acting Minister of water Amos Andama has written a letter indicating the dissolution of the board citing third gender rule not observed, family being members amongst other conflict of interest indicators.
“I did it in the first time with the managing director and ascending to his disciples who in cahoots have selfishly turned gwasco management into a family affair”, said agitated Andama adding that it’s the business of relatives in the said board and in different departments.
According to the Minister, Gwasco to its knees was collecting monies of water bills from a total of 17,000 subscribers but it was a shock to him to realize that only 6,000 members whose monies were accounted for even after acceptance from the MD that the employees had not been paid their dues of 5 months.
“Kisii county government can’t sit down and watch their residents suffer because of some people who selfishly work to achieve their personal endeavors on the basis of suffering water subscribers in the whole of Kisii and Nyamira counties”, he insisted observing that by dissolving the board was the process of cleaning and reconstituting it was under the law.
He urged the Kisii county residents not to be duped that some people are being targeted but understand the matter on the ground that they won’t be paying to services being prioritized on the basis family and selected few.
Andama in the letter seen by the our reporter has stated that the board dissolution was evident and under the law, constitutionally right and with the advice of Water Services Regulatory Board [WASRREB] to save the water body in Gusii from limping.
