Kisii Kenya 28 April 2021………………..Law Society of Kenya South Nyanza Regional chair Wilkins Ochoki has asked Chief Justice elect Martha Koome to put priority on staffing the new courts opened by former CJ David Maraga once she gets approval of the president and parliament.
Speaking to Gusii star Ochoki, while congratulating Koome on her nomination for the seat by the Judicial Service Commission on Tuesday , he noted that lack of staff at the courts continues to hamper service delivery.
According to him the selection of Koome as CJ elect confirms her rich potential to improve delivery of justice adding that they hopes that she will have an all inclusive judiciary and work towards ensuring the judges who were lined up swearing are also confirmed.
Ochoki said as a judge who had served for the more than 15 years, Koome has what it takes to take Judicial reforms forward.
Separately, former Kisii County Woman Rep Mary Otara described Koome’s nomination as momentous for all women.
Mary described Koome’s nominations as a milestone in, the history of the country set to have the first female Chief Justice which is a clear indication that women are up to the task and that they can influence positively to the development of a prosperous nation.
Mary added that the achievement is a testament to the country that women are equally capable to lead from the front.
At the same time she called upon Bonchari electorate to awake into to the reality that women can be leaders as well as they are prep and have faith and elect her as their MP in the upcoming by election
