Kisii Kenya 04 May 2021…………Kisii county Senatorial Candidate Okeng’o Nyambane has hailed the good work done by Journalist across the country by urging them not to be biased during coverage of events.
Okeng’o noted that at times, some journalists put personal interests putting a stain in the profession an incident which only help in tainting the profession which should be discouraged.
“Such incidents only help in tainting the profession and they should not be encouraged,” he said.
Addressing the Press On Monday at Kisii when he joined Journalists in the marking of World press freedom Day celebrations,Okeng’o said that Media plays a crucial role in disseminating information to the public.
“Even as the world paces forward, information dissemination remains a key role in the the country’s development process,” said Senatorial Aspirant Okengo Nyambane adding that the media should continue acting as lense all of us and should be cherished not hated.
About Covid 19 Pandemic which has continues to devastate the world at an unprecedented rate he said that it has also affected the media industries.
” As the world hurts, I share the pain many of you are going through in critical moments as these, “He told journalist calling them to continue observing health protocols .
At the same time he said that Politicians also need freedom during their campaigns without being intimidated by the police officers .
Okengo’s sentiments comes after some members affiliated to Mama Teresa Bitutu who is vying for Bonchari parliament seat were arrested on Sunday evening.
