Jerusha who was speaking in Nyamira on Friday said that in the past 2 months,teenage girls have suffered in the hands of defilers and rapists noting the recent one which happened in North Mugirango where a gang of four boda boda riders gang-raped two girls aged 11 and 15 years.
The two were repeatedly defiled after the men lured them into a nearby joint in Nyaramba town, intoxicated them before the beastly act.
Jerusha urged the older men to take up the task of counseling the younger
generation as it was the tradition.
She said she the act made her travel from Nairobi to ensure that the culprits are apprehended and justice done to the girls who are currently recuperating in the Nyamira County referral hospital.
The MP urged the County Commissioner to ensure that all the four men involved in the indecent act on the ladies are arrested and handed over to the courts for justice to prevail.
Two of the for perpetrators have reportedly been arrested as they await to be arraigned in court next week.
“The shocking and irritating act has forced me to travel from Nairobi all for justice for the innocent girls. I have come to ensure that the ‘beasts’ involved are apprehended”, said Momanyi.
“What are our men looking for in the teenage girls when we have many grown up women out there who can consent and satisfy their desires? These acts should stop if we must have a decent generation, spare the girl child”, added Momanyi.
Barely a month ago, a father was arrested for allegedly raping his daughter in Kitutu Chache North Constituency, Kisii County and is currently held at the Kisii prisons.
Ms. Jerusha asked the courts to impose stiffer punishments to the perpetrators to discourage many from the vices.
Momanyi was speaking in Kenyambi village, West Mugirango where she handed over 10 tents to women groups in the area.
