All are set for Bonchari By election says IEBC.

Kisii kenya 17 May 2021……….IEBC have assured the public that they have put all measures required to ensure smooth running of the exercise.

Speaking at the constituency tallying center during the media briefing, IEBC Returning officer Benson Ambuko said they are set and prepared to deliver free and fair election.

Mr Ambuko said the constituency has 50,955 registered voters with 103 polling stations in the four wards.

He said that the election process is going to adhere to ministry of Health covid-19 protocol

“With Covid-19 we have gone an extra mile and done massive voter education through our voter educators, every voter should put on their masks, wash hands at the water points within the polling stations before casting their votes,after the whole process, they shall be sanitized before leaving the polling stations , “said the Returning officer.

He warned that masks should not bear names of the candidates or political parties therefore whoever violates this they will not be allowed into the polling stations.

He further said they agreed with the ministry of Education to use schools as the polling stations and therefore children using those schools will not go to school tomorrow.

However Party of Economic Democracy candidate Victor Omanwa said that one of the boxes for Bogiakumu ward which is damaged might lead to unfair election.

Mr Omanwa asked IEBC to move into speed and ensure everything is placed into order.

Over the claims Ambuko said security is assured and they have made all arrangements with security agencies for a peaceful election adding that the box was only punctured in the course of transportation but the material was intact .

” we have checked the register inside, it’s interct and not altered with,”Said Ambuko.

He assured the candidates and voters there would be free and fair election.
