Girls continue suffering for lack of Sanitary towels says Rosemary

Kisii Kenya 28 May 2021…………..As the world marks it’s menstrual Hygiene awareness day it has emerged that many adolescent Girls from poor background suffer in silent for lack of sanitary towels  .


 Speaking to Gusii star Rosemary Osano  who has been championing for the rights of girl child in gusii region noted that some of the girls from poor families have been forced  to look for boys/ men who  sponsor them to have the products .


Rosemary noted that this has led many girls to drop from School after being impregnanted  by this boys .


“I have come to realize that our girls are facing alot of challenges more so  during this period ,most of them lack  sanitary towels ending up  looking for someone who can sponser them but finally it ends in tears “said Rosemary .

  She has challenged stakeholders more so the Leadership of the women both from Nyamira and Kisii to come up with programs which will help the girl child to overcome the challenges .


“I have been in schools but there is no  sanitary towels but if  they are it’s little ,I call upon all stakeholders to come on  board so that we can help this young girls from the hands of  predetors,”she says adding that once we come up with  good structures we will keep our girls safe at schools and in the society .

A quick check by our reporter  also emerged that Many adolescent and women in Kenya experience problems with menstruation due to limited knowledge and poor access to safe and afordable methods and materials, with consequences in terms of poor self-esteem and infrequent school attendance, among others.
