Kisii county Commissioner Allan Macharia flagging off sensitising exercise against Covid 19 within Kisii county .

Kisii Kenya 21 June 2021…. Barely four days after kisii county among other counties were indetifyied as Covid 19 hotspots ,now residents have been urged to seriously observe the ministry of health guideliness in order to minimize the surge cases of infection in the County.

Speaking during Flagging of Covid-19 safety sensitization exercise ,the county commission Allan Macharia said that the diseases can be only contained for following the ministry of Health directives.

Mr Macharia said so far Kisii County has recorded 1819 positive cases, 36 hospitalized at Kisii and Teaching Referral Hospital, 150 home based.

So far we have recorded 20 percentage positivity rate of Covid-19, which is worrying , it’s high time we should enforce the directives and urge the residents to observe health protocols“he said.

He further insisted that however will be found breaking such protocols will face the law.

Mr Macharia advised the residents to avoid social gatherings, wedding ceremony, burials and churches that draws large crowds .

“Such places are fertile grounds that trigger Covid-19 infections,”he said.

The county commissioner urged the public to keep social distancing, wear masks and Wash hands in order to curb this virus.

He stated that the county government has formed intergovernmental committee group which handles the cases to chat way forward in the fight against Covid-19.

“As county government we have surveillance team in every sub county level which are sensitizing people on how to observe ministry of health guideliness ,”he told the press

Kisii county is among the 13 counties which were zoned as Covid-19 cases continue to rise.The curfew time was revised from 7 pm to 4 am .
