Kisii Kenya 22 June 2021…..Embattled Kisii County Assembly Speaker David Kombo on Tuesday took control of the House after months of fighting from Ward Reps who had been battling to have him impeached.
speaking to 30 Ward Reps who turned up for the session, Kombo said he wholeheartedly forgives all .
He said he had been out for eight months following two bids to impeach him.
He later obtained a court order to put the impeachment on hold until the case he had filed at the Kisii Law Courts is heard and determined.
Kombo told the House he has no ill feelings towards those who had been fighting him adding that it’s high time to bring unity amongst all members which will make them achieve what the electorates derseves.
Kombo added that now he wants the House to focus on the development agenda ,saying the members were already running out of time already.
” The General Election is around the corner, we don’t have time to waste , we only have time to work as the House , “Kombo told Gusii star outside the Assemby.
He stated that his sole agenda for now was to help the Members of the Assembly to finish the development projects in their wards.
The Speaker further said he wants the Assembly to fast track its diary so as to finish the backlog caused by the fighting.
” Let’s forget the past, as a speaker I want to work with all my might, we can’t go on fighting, chasing air when we should be assisting our people,” he said.
The Speaker said the members will start debate on the budget next week.
” I know there had been delays but this will be the first agenda in the next week sittings. ,I have already instructed the chairman budget so that this can be realized as soon as possible, ” said Kombo.
The House, he said, has already lost a lot of time following the yearlong squabbles.
He urged the Ward Reps to set aside their differences and begin working.
” Am ready to work with everybody, the governor, the Deputy Governor and every other leader in this county to ensure we move forward. I came here with peace and wants to work peaceful for our people,” stated Kombo.
Section of Mcas led by Kiogoro Ward MCA Samuel Apoko said they welcome the Speaker back with open arms by urging him to work well with other members of the assembly,
