Nyaribo pledges to invest in healthcare to revive the County’s economy.

Nyamira Kenya 3 July 2021….Nyamira County governor Amos Nyaribo has said that his government will majorly focus on the healthcare, a sector which he noted will help revive the economy of the agriculture dependent county.

Speaking during the unveiling of assorted medical equipment worth Ksh.34 million at the Nyamira County Referral Hospital Wednesday, Nyaribo noted that best healthcare for his people was a sure way of reviving the dwindling economy of Nyamira.

Among the equipment launched that were procured in partnership with the World bank include, 200 patient beds, 85 autoclave machines, mattresses, bedside lockers and drip stands among others.

“During my inauguration as second governor of Nyamira County, I pledged to invest in healthcare of our people.

This is in appreciation of the fact that our economy cannot grow if our people are unable to access quality and affordable health care”, he said.

Nyaribo, who took over as governor after the death of John Nyagarama last year, added that his government had taken steps aimed at actualizing the Universal Health Care (UHC) among them registration of over 15,000 residents for free access to health care.

The program which was started in February this year is aimed at supporting poor and vulnerable citizens access free medical cover through partnership with the National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF).

Also, Nyaribo has pumped over Kshs. 250 million for health infrastructure which has seen the upgrade of seven health facilities and procure of assorted medical equipment targeting maternal and child health in the 2020/2021 fiscal year.

“Adequate health infrastructure is critical in provision of quality health care”, he noted.

This comes barely a day after the governor flagged off a consignment of assorted medicine and medical commodities worth Kshs. 33 million to the 113 health facilities across the county.
