Nairobi Kenya 10 July 2021 Amani National Congress Party Leader Musalia Mudavadi has called for the careful vetting of the electoral agency commissioners.
Speaking at Mathare SDA church in Nairobi, Mr Mudavadi said the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission holds key to peaceful elections and ushering in of the new government if it plays its role well.
The vetting of the commissioners that is ongoing saw one of the shortlisted candidate fail to show up for the interviews on realization that that interviewing panel had flagged his academic documents as questionable.
“IEBC should carefully vet all candidates, not just for the commission positions but also the candidates for various elective seats in next year’s general election, “ he said.
The 2022 presidential candidate said different institutions of government are full of individuals of questionable standing who are keen to continue robbing the country dry.
“If we are not careful, the thugs and the corrupt are waiting for us in every corner. If we put them in office, our bleeding economy will be worse than it is now. Let us be been careful and ask God to help us chose the right leaders and I promise to revive this economy if given that mantle, “ he told the congregation.
“I am reaching out to you to give me your vote to be your next president so that we can together fix our economy that is bleeding. Choose a leader who minds about our economy and having been a minister of Finance, I truly know how to fix it and the IEBC should put everything in place so as to give Kenyans an opportunity to have the country brought back to economic growth,” he added.
Mudavadi said the country’s economy needs to be fixed and his administration will ensure the country is turned from consumption to a production economy that will create jobs for its people.
He was accompanied by a number of MPs led by Nairobi Senator Johnson Sakaja.
