Kisii Kenya 06 June 2021…..Elected leaders and professionals in Kisii and Nyamira counties associated with the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party have launched a blueprint tailored on Deputy President William Ruto’s hyped bottom up economic model.

Lead by North Mugirango Members of parliament, Joash Nyamoko said the document, which captures potentials in agriculture and tourism was formulated by a ten-member committee of professionals drawn from the two counties.

The Mp said the two counties have untapped potential in various aspects, stressing the model is geared towards empowering grassroots people to boost their economic lives and contribute to the country’s economic growth.

“People at the grassroots are suffering since successive regimes have been focusing on a structured top down approach. We will sensitize Kenyans to embrace the bottom up approach” Nyamoko said at Karmel Park yesterday during a validation meeting.

He said Ruto could advise President Uhuru Kenyatta on the bottom up approach but it was the president’s discretion to heed it or not, adding the model is likely to be implemented after the 2022 General Election.

That added that professionals from the two counties conducted research on the economic and social realities in Gusii community, stressing it will help implement the model’s policies.

Omingo magara noted the model targets 15 million poor people and is geared towards creating value addition to agricultural produce, livestock and promoting tourism in the area to transform their lives.

He said farmers will be given subsidies to boost agricultural and livestock production to enable them generate profits and pay taxes to support the country’s economy.

“The milk can be processed at creameries and the milk sold to schools and other outlets. The government can generate adequate revenue and reduce excessive borrowing” Magara said.

Professionals- Fred Momanyi (Kisii County) and Doris Nyamanga ( Nyamira county) said small and medium entrepreneurs from the counties will be given cheap loans to invest, create jobs and contribute to the country’s revenue. ENDS.
