Nyamira 12 July 2021………Rotary Foundation in collaboration with Aqua Clara, a non-governmental organization were implementing a community sanitation enhancement project amid raging covid19 pandemic.
The two year project located at Rigoma in Nyamira county and funded by global rotary clubs from USA and locally will cost Ksh. 30 million.
Public institutions including schools,hospitals and homesteads will be supplied with the sanitation facilities some assembled by its technical staff at the Rigoma based workshop.
A total of 37 schools and 70 health facilities had been earmarked to benefit under the project.
The facilities included water tanks for rain water harvesting, hand-washing stations among others.
Speaking during the handing over of water tanks,toilets and hand-washing machines at Nyandoche Ibere primary school in Borabu, chief operations Peter Kihuria said the county governments of Nyamira,Kisii and Bomet had received the supplies to contain coronavirus.
He explained distribution of facilities was meant to improve sanitation as a major preventive measure against the spread of the virus.
Gary Ananda,president of Rotary club Gachie,explained the partnership between the donors and the project clarifying their role was to ensure prudent utilization of the funds.
