Kisii Kenya 2 September 2021………Anglican church of Kenya(ACK) bishops from Southern Nyanza region have maintained the church’s role in matters politics and vowed to stay put.
Bishops Simon Edward Onyango and John Orina Omangi also expressed their concern over current strained working relations between president Uhuru Kenyatta and deputy president William Ruto.
He alluded to the family unit where fighting among the parents made the children to suffer and called a truce by the duo.
Presiding over a church women function at ACK, St. Philips church Kisii,Onyango appealed to politicians allied to the president and his deputy to tamper their public utterances.
Bishop Onyango was worried that the politicians’ public outburst bordered on incitement which did not auger well for peace and unity of the country.
Women,children and the vulnerable who listened to their hate speeches were likely to turn against one another.
Bishop Omangi pointed out the church cannot shy away from commenting on political issues since her role was intervene and shed figurative light whenever politicians plunge the people into darkness.
He called for convening of a national conference to iron out pertinent issues on the impending general elections and singled contentious matters on the electoral body’s preparedness.
